Upon arrival at Corroboree Billabong, you will embark on a 1.5 hour Corroboree Billabong safari cruise, where you’ll get to see the internationally significant Mary River Wetlands System. These expansive floodplains are home to the world’s highest natural concentration of saltwater crocodiles. Wildlands Wetlands Safari crocodile tour itinerary
06:15 – Complementary hotel pick ups begin.
06:45 – Depart Darwin on air-conditioned vehicle en route for Corroboree Billabong. Your expert drivers will provide a comprehensive commentary on your surroundings.
08:00 – Stop at Corroboree Tavern, an iconic Northern Territory pub where you will be able to grab yourself a snack or drink and go to the bathroom in preparation for the cruise. There are no toilet facilities available on the safari boats.
08:15 – Depart for Corroboree Billabong.
08:30 – Arrive at Corroboree Billabong and make you way to the Wildlands Wetlands Safari pontoon in preparation for Safari Cruise crocodile tour.
08:45 – Wildlands Wetlands Safari Cruise crocodile tour departs from pontoon and runs for approximately 1.5 hours. On this once in a life time safari cruise, you will be transported through Corroboree Billabong, a part of the Mary River wetlands floodplain system. The Mary River wetlands are home to the world’s highest natural crocodile population, over 280 species of birds, wallabies, buffalo and various other native animals. Even though this is a crocodile tour, it really does have something for everyone. It is hard to get a bad photo of the wetlands with the seemingly endless lotus flowers, pandanus and native bamboo lining the banks. Our highly experienced guides know exactly where the big crocs like to hang out and can expertly manoeuvre our custom-built boats so you have the best opportunity to get some great snaps to take home. They will also be able to point out the nesting places of many popular bird species including jabiru, sea eagles and kites.
10:15 – Upon completion of the cruise, the safari boat will return to the Wildlands pontoon where your air-conditioned vehicle will be waiting for you. You will have an opportunity to visit the bathroom before the crocodile tour commences its return to Darwin.
10:25 – Crocodile tour will depart Corroboree Billabong on its way back to Darwin. On the drive you will get to see the expansive Adelaide River floodplains and will pass though Darwin’s rural area where there are many mango and dragon fruit plantations.
12:00 – Tour will arrive back in Darwin and will begin complementary hotel drop off service.
