Wildlands Early Birders Cruise Itinerary
06:45 – Arrive at Corroboree Billabong. To find out how to get there, visit our location page. Please arrive before cruise is due to depart to allow yourself time to visit the bathroom and stretch your legs as there are no toilet facilities available on board the safari boats.
07:00 – Wildlands Early Birders Cruise will depart from the Wildlands Wetlandspontoon. This is located on the far left side of the carpark at the Corroboree Billabong boat ramp. The Mary River Wetlands system is home to the world’s highest natural crocodile population and our Safari Cruises really do have something for everyone. On the cruise, your experienced, expert guides will take you through the winding corridors of Corroboree Billabong whose banks are bordered with thousands of lotus flowers. Peeking through the pandanus and native bamboo the lotuses, you will be able to see the vast Mary River floodplain system which serves as a breeding ground for some of the 280 bird species you may encounter on the tour. Your guides will be able to point out the nesting places of many birds including the jabiru, sea eagles and elusive jacanas. They also know the favourite haunts of some of the big crocs that inhabit the billabong and will do their best to find as many as possible and get you close enough to snap plenty of good photos to share with your friends and family.
08:30 – Early Birders Cruise returns to the Wildlands pontoon whereupon you can return to Darwin, or continue on your way to Kakadu National Park.
