Departing from Darwin on one of our one day cultural tours, you will have the opportunity to learn about local Indigenous culture, bush tucker and medicine as well as trying your hand at basket weaving, digeridoo playing and spear throwing on a Pudakul Indigenous cultural tour. You will then get to experience the magnificent Corroboree Billabong and Mary River Wetlands on a Wildlands Wetlands Safari from the comfort of our custom-built safari boat. On the 1.5 hour lunch time cruise, you’ll discover a natural wonderland, home to the world’s highest natural concentration of saltwater crocodiles. Our knowledgeable guides will help you to spot crocodiles (salties and freshies) in their natural environment, take you through waterways filled with colourful flora, and whose banks are home to a myriad of wildlife including Wallabies, Jabiru, Sea Eagles, Kites, Kingfishers, Brolgas, Buffalo and Jacanas. The tour includes lunch amongst the lotus lilies and transfers to and from Darwin. Darwin hotel pick ups are available at no extra charge.

Wildlife, Wetlands and Cultural tours itinerary
08:30 – Complementary hotel pick ups for cultural tours from Darwin begin.
09:15 – Cultural tours depart from Darwin in an air-conditioned vehicle. The drive to the Pudakul Cultural tours meeting point will take you through the bushland, mango and dragon fruit plantations of Darwin’s rural area.
09:45 – Arrive at the Pudakul Cultural Tours meeting point for tour beginning at 10:00am.
10:00 – Engage in the fantastic 2 hour Pudakul Cultural Tour where you will learn about bush tucker and medicine from the local Aboriginal people of the Mary River and Adelaide River regions. You will also get the opportunity to try your hand at spear throwing, dillybag and basket weaving and get to try playing a didgeridoo. Pudakul Culture Tours were established in 2008 and are owned and operated by a local Aboriginal family.
12:00 – Upon completion of the Pudakul Cultural Tour, you will depart for Corroboree Billabong, part of the Mary River Wetlands system.
12:45 – Arrive at Corroboree Billabong for Wildlands Wetlands Safari cruise beginning at 13:00. This will give you time to stretch your legs and go to the bathroom (there are no toilet facilities on board the boats)
13:00 – 2 hour lunch time safari cruise commences. This cruise will take you through the beautiful Corroboree Billabong which makes up part of the Mary River Wetland System. This area is home to the world’s highest crocodile population, so you are almost guaranteed to see some BIG crocs soaking up the sun. Bird lovers will love this part of the tour as the Mary River Wetlands are a vital breeding and migration location for over 280 bird species, including jabiru, brolgas, sea eagles and kites. The banks are also home to buffalo, cattle and wallabies. Lining the banks are endless stands of the beautiful lotus flower which make for the perfect location for the safari cruise to break for lunch on board the custom built, spacious safari boats.
15:15 – Tour will depart Corroboree Billabong on route to Darwin. On the drive back to Darwin, you will again see the beautiful Adelaide River floodplains.
16:30 – Aboriginal Cultural Tour arrives back in Darwin and will commence complementary hotel drop off service.
