Kakadu and Mary River Wetlands Day trip itinerary
05:50 – Complementary hotel pick ups for day trips from Darwin begin.
06:30 – Day trip departs from Darwin in an air-conditioned vehicle.
07:45 – Arrive at the iconic Northern Territory Pub and Roadhouse, The Bark Hut Inn where you will have a chance to stretch your legs, grab some snacks and say hi to their resident buffalo, Jack. The Bark Hut Inn is a popular stop over for visitors on day trips from Darwin and is renowned for its character. Your guide will then provide you with tickets to Kakadu National Park. These tickets must remain on your person at all times when in the park.
08:15 – Tour will depart from the Bark Hut Inn.
10:15 – Tour arrives at one of the best rock art sites in Kakadu, Ubirr. You will be taken on a 1.5 hour guided walk through numerous rock art natural galleries and shelters. These sites were used as recently as 40 years ago by the traditional people of Kakadu. The views of the Kakadu floodplains you will see on your journey are incomparable.
11:45 – Tour will depart from Ubirr.
12:15 – Tour will arrive at the world-famous Crocodile Hotel (named so because the building is shaped like a crocodile) for lunch. The bistro menu specialises in local seafood, meats and bush tucker cuisine.
13:00 – Tour will depart the Crocodile Hotel for the Bowali Visitor Centre.
13:10 – Tour will arrive at Bowali Visitor Centre where you are free to roam around and learn about Kakadu National Park, native flora and fauna and local Indigenous culture through the many interactive displays on exhibition, including a giant crocodile skeleton.
13:40 – Tour will depart Bowali Visitor Centre for Rockhole.
15:30 – You will exit the bus and walk onto one of Wildlands Wetland Safari’s custom built safari boats. Our highly experienced guides will take you on a 1.5 hour cruise across Corroboree Billabong, part of the Mary River Wetlands. The high concentration of crocodiles means you are almost guaranteed to see some big crocs lazing around in the sun. Your guide will also point out numerous species of birds, show you some of the local sources of bush tucker before finding you a quiet, secluded area among the lotus lilies where you can enjoy the serenity with a fresh fruit platter and sparkling wine. The cruise will conclude on the other side of Corroboree Billabong where your vehicle will collect you and begin your return to Darwin.
17:00 – Tour will depart Corroboree Billabong.
18:45 – Tour returns to Darwin and will begin complementary hotel drop off service.
