The Wildlands Lunch Safari Cruise, which departs from Corroboree Billabong, showcases the best the Mary River Wetlands has to offer on a 2 hour cruise through an area that is home to the world’s highest natural crocodile population. In addition to the numerous crocodiles in the area, many species of birds as well as various land mammals, call these incredible floodplains home.
Our expert guides know exactly where the biggest crocs like to sit and our custom-built safari boats are highly capable of getting you as close as possible for a great photo. Our guides will also point out various significant bird species and their nesting places, including jabirus, jacanas, sea eagles and kites.
The winding waterways teeming with colourful flora, and the sounds of nature, provide the perfect setting for a tranquil lunch.
12:45 – Arrive at Corroboree Billabong. We suggest you allow some time to stretch your legs and visit the bathroom before boarding the safari boat as there are no toilet facilities on board.
13:00 – Lunch Safari Cruise departs the Wildlands Wetlands Safari pontoon for a 2 hour cruise on the beautiful Corroboree Billabong which makes up part of the internationally significant Mary River Wetlands system. While on the Lunch Safari Cruise, your expert guide will do their best to help you capture some great snapshots to take home by getting you up close and personal with some of the biggest crocs in the area. Your guide will also be able to point out some of the hundreds of bird species that call the Mary River Wetland system home. During the cruise, the custom built safari boat will be parked among the lotus flowers in a secluded area of the billabong so you can soak in the tranquility of the Top End while enjoying your lunch which is provided.
15:00 – Lunch Safari Cruise will return to the Wildlands Wetlands Safari pontoon where you can return to Darwin or continue on your way to Kakadu National Park.
